Why Study English?
English is a vital core subject. Colleges and employers use it to assess if you are suitable for courses and jobs. It is essential to your everyday life too.
It is expected that you attain a grade level 4 in English in Year 11 or continue studying it until you do up to the age of 18.

Who teaches it?
KS5 is taught by an experienced English teacher, Karen Challen; a member of the senior leadership team.
How is it taught?
You will have three lessons each week and follow the AQA GCSE English specification.
You will be assessed through 2, 1 hour 45 minute exam papers and a non-examination assessment.
What do we learn?
You will develop the skills you need to read, understand and analyse a wide range of different texts covering the 19th, 20th and 21st century time periods as as to write clearly, coherently and accurately using a range of vocabulary and sentence structures.
